Launching the event is writer Almudena Grandes, who will deliver a lecture on April 19 at the Saló de Cent in the Ajuntament of Barcelona. Last but not least is Fernando Aramburu, his novel ‘Patria’ (2016), published only two years ago, has since become one of the most successful Spanish novels in its field. Panoramic Catalan figure Najat el Hamchi, who won the Ramon Llul Prize for novel ‘ L’últim patriarca’ (2008) and the Sant Joan Prize for narrative ‘La filla estrangera’ (2011). The remaining five authors of the ‘Dialogues of Sant Jordi’ are nationally recognized.
Angolan novelist, poet and dramatist, José Eduardo Agualusa will also be in attendance, known for his narratives, Angualusa’s novels are a unique look into decolonization in Angola, taking into account both the inheritance and debt of colonial power. Belgian author Amélie Nothomb, who has written a book each year since 1992, will be in attendance, along with Philip Pullman, renowned author in the fantasy genre and considered heir to C.S. While keeping with original feel, the dialogues will yet again link authors and readers in the lead up to St Jordi to discuss books.Įight Catalan, Spanish and international authors will participate in this year’s edition.
